Chapter 1075 - 556: Extra: Revealed Fatherly Love for Rachel (Part 2)
Alice Robinson murmured softly, "Are you really mad at me?" She didn’t know when she started discussing things with Claud Laurence.Claud Laurence raised his eyes, looked at her, and smiled, "Why would I be mad at you? I’m worried about you."
His words were always gentle and soothing, like a warm current flowing through her heart.
A sense of guilt unintentionally surfaced, and Alice bit her lip, lowered her head, and quietly said, "Sorry, I wasn’t in a good mood yesterday, so I didn’t answer your call."
"Missing your father?"
"Yes."
Claud Laurence said, "I have a ready-made panacea... go shopping and buy a bunch of clothes, then you won’t miss your father anymore."
Alice grumbled, "Can’t you come up with something new?"
"Why not? Use my card as you like, buy as many clothes as you want, and when you think about how you’re spending my money, you’ll be happier."
Alice burst into laughter, feeling that his words had a certain magic, making her very happy.
As a result, that afternoon, Alice indeed went shopping.
She was not quite accustomed to being with Claud Laurence yet, so when he said he had a meeting in the afternoon and couldn’t accompany her, she actually felt great relief.
These past two years had been stressful with little time for shopping; most clothes she wore were outdated. It was indeed time to refresh her wardrobe.
Being the current head of the Robinson family, stylish dresses and gowns were necessary, but she mostly needed several sets of formal office attire.
Alice decided to buy dresses first.
Though she might become a businesswoman in the future, deep down, she’s still a girl with a fondness for beauty.
Walking into the first brand-name boutique, Alice was immediately attracted to a little dress inside.
After trying it on, the shop assistant complimented her, and she agreed it looked quite nice. She then proceeded to pack the dress and asked the assistant to bring other dresses for her to try.
Being someone who dislikes hassle, she quickly picked five or six items, intending to pay when the assistant smiled and said, "Miss Robinson, your bill has been settled. We will deliver the clothes to your house."
Alice was taken aback. When did she pay?
The assistant’s smile widened, "Mr. Laurence said that any clothes you fancy will be paid for by him."
Alice realized it but didn’t know what to say, holding the card somewhat awkwardly.
The assistant said, "Mr. Laurence is so nice to Miss Robinson... next time, let him accompany you shopping!"
Why is she always linked with Claud Laurence wherever she goes?
Returning a polite smile to the assistant, Alice turned and left the store.
Behind her, she faintly heard two employees discussing, "I’m so envious. How wonderful it would be to have such a handsome, wealthy boyfriend..."
"Indeed, the manager said earlier that General Laurence’s secretary notified all the luxury stores today: any clothes that Miss Robinson likes will be paid for by General Laurence, as long as Miss Robinson is happy."
"Wow, truly envious..."
Leaving the boutique, Alice took out her phone and dialed Claud Laurence.
After waiting for a while with no answer, Alice assumed Claud Laurence was in a meeting and was planning to hang up when the call connected.
"It’s me."
Claud Laurence laughed, "You called me right after we parted this morning? What, you miss me?"
"Miss you, my foot... I told you I didn’t want you to pay for me. Although our family is indeed facing some financial issues, buying a few new clothes isn’t a problem. Why did you pay for me?"
"It’s good you’re joking with me, seems your mood has improved..."
She chuckled, admitting her mood had indeed improved significantly.
"Alright, I’ll give you the money for the clothes next time." For some reason, she wanted things to be clear between them and didn’t want to owe him too much.
"Do you really want to settle this with me?"
"Yes."
"Then we have plenty more to settle... Ah, let me think." He deliberately pondered, "Our trip to Tokyo, the flights, accommodation, fun... we spent quite a lot, and these days I’ve been treating you to meals..."
Alice frowned, "You want to settle those too?"
"It was you who said to settle, no?"
"Alright then!"
"I’ve estimated roughly, nothing less than a hundred thousand..."
"A hundred thousand?" Alice’s eyes widened in shock. Goodness, with the family funds being tight lately, shelling out a hundred thousand now might really be a bit difficult...
Claud Laurence guessed Alice’s thoughts and said seriously, "Considering the current situation of Robinson, this hundred thousand isn’t small change for Miss Robinson..."
Alice lowered her head, looking embarrassed, and grumbled, "You’re stingy."
Claud Laurence pretended he didn’t hear Alice’s mosquito-like voice and said, "I presume recently Miss Robinson can’t pay, so there’s only one solution left..."
Alice pouted, "What is it?"
"Offer yourself in return."
His voice was magnetic and seductive, making Alice’s face instantly blush. "You’re annoying, I’m not talking to you anymore..."
He laughed heartily.
"I’m not paying it back..."
That week, Alice signed a joint contract with Claud Laurence.
The Robinson family’s predicament was finally resolved... With Claud Laurence as a pillar, all previous problems they faced were smoothly solved.
The bank loan was approved, all the wineries resumed normal operations, and everything was on a good track.
This week, Alice had no worries, and time seemed to fly by. So when she returned home and saw Chester Robinson playing with Rachel, she was stunned.
On the sofa, Chester and Rachel sat opposite each other, surrounded by a heap of newly bought building blocks.
Chester, dressed in casual home attire, looked sophisticated and elegant, far removed from the image of a business-minded person, let alone someone deeply strategic and shrewd.
"Uncle, where does this block go?"
